The role was Assistant Online Retail Assistant. I had to manage and update products from their e-commerce site to Lazada and Shopee shops.
At the time, my role was to copy the information from their website and add/update manually onto the eCommerce platforms. Each product was added and updated manually on each storefront. Furthermore, I had the task of updating price, updating quantity, and updating the respective images for the products in specific orders.
Shopee and Lazada had their own individual formats in order to bulk upload products. Most of the data for the company was hosted on Airtable. The website merely pulled the data from Airtable.
To make my life easier, I wanted to see if there was a way to automate the tasks. Since the data was from Airtable, what if instead of copying from the website, I found a way to get the data I need from Airtable itself? With the help of google sheets formulas and some external python scripts. I created this. It was a step-by-step google sheet that helped to quicken the process of formatting data from Airtable and making it relevant for Shopee and Lazada uploads. I also added some simple formulas to help adjust the quantity and convert prices.

With this google sheet, transforming product data from Sift & Pack e-commerce site to Lazada & Shopee format is easier. With this current google sheet, the company does not have a need to hire an Assistant Online Retail Assistant anymore. As most of the tasks have been automated. Furthermore, with this google sheet and its respective automation, it reduces a lot of human error.
This excel sheet only works with Sift & Pack and its dependent on how the Airtable is setup. If they decide to move around the columns in their database or they migrate the data to another platform, this solution becomes redundant. If I was to improve this solution further, I would dive deeper into understanding how most eCommerce site actually manages their products and try to work from that angle. So that the solution can be more expansive and other companies may find it useful.
If I had further expertise in the matter, I would find a way to link the database with the google sheet or another software so that there is no need for any copy and paste and the information can easily be reformatted for Shopee & Lazada.
